What to Expect
During the rehearsal I will work with you or your child on the timing, dynamics, pitch, rhythm, tone quality, performance skills and musical interpretation. I am fully registered VIT teacher and have more than 20 years teaching experience in teaching piano, general classroom, specialist classroom music and choir. My aim in these sessions is more than simply running through the music. The session will complement your/your child’s lessons with their regular music teacher and will give you/your child a chance to work with another qualified music professional to enhance your/your child’s performance.

Rehearsals at your home, school or your teacher's studio within 20km of Oakleigh East
Exams, Auditions, Performances within 20km of Oakleigh East
I will be offering accompaniment services primarily at your location throughout 2026, as my availability in my home studio will be very limited. Working in your home allows you to be as involved as you wish during rehearsal time, while also giving you the freedom to continue with your evening—whether that’s working from home, preparing dinner, caring for other children, or managing any other household tasks.
A one‑hour session is ideal, even for younger students. It provides ample time to rehearse exam pieces thoroughly and to work on additional components required for comprehensive exams, including technical work, aural tests, and general knowledge.
Your child will receive dedicated, individualised support from an experienced music professional who has prepared hundreds of students for exams over the past 20+ years.
$108 per hour (minimum booking is 1 hr).
Performances: include up to 1 hr warm up and performance time. Time is calculated from the agreed arrival time, usually 20-30min prior to the performance and includes waiting time prior to your performance time. Additional time will be charged in 15min increments ($27 p/15min)
$162 per 1.5 hour session

If I am learning all new repertoire, there may be a surcharge to partially compensate for the significant hours of personal practice time I will need to set aside.
Recommended Rehearsals
Prelim - Grade 3: 45min
Grade 3 to 6: 45min - 1hr
Grade 7 and above: 1hr to 1.5hrs
The number of sessions is entirely up to you. As a general guide, I recommend a minimum of two: one a week or two before the exam, and another closer to the exam date. If your child has already been rehearsing with a backing track or with their teacher playing the piano part, one rehearsal may be sufficient. Many families opt for three or more sessions, and some choose weekly or fortnightly rehearsals in the months leading up to an important exam.
What does the fee cover?
When you make an inquiry, I take time to sight‑read the score and assess whether I can prepare the music to a performance standard within the required timeframe, taking my existing commitments into account. Once we confirm a booking, I may need to print your music and ensure that page turns are placed appropriately.
I also spend time practising your piece and listening to various recordings to develop a deeper understanding of how best to interpret and perform it. Following this preparation, we meet for the face‑to‑face rehearsal, where we refine the ensemble work and bring everything together.
So while you may book a one‑hour rehearsal, there is significant preparation and administrative work that takes place beforehand to ensure a high‑quality musical outcome.
My Sheet Music Policy
Sheet music must be provided at least two weeks before the first rehearsal, with all cuts, repeats, and any other alterations to the written arrangement clearly marked. Music should be in the correct key and supplied as a single PDF with all pages oriented the same way. Hard copies are also acceptable, provided they reach me no later than two weeks in advance.
For pieces below approximately AMEB Grade 6 standard, I may be able to sight‑read the piano part during the rehearsal. However, this is only a general guide; some music under Grade 6 can still present significant rhythmic, harmonic, or ensemble challenges. VCE and university audition repertoire is considered Grade 6 and above.
If we confirm a booking with less than one week’s notice and the sheet music has not been provided, the quality of the accompaniment may be affected, as I must prioritise existing commitments in my preparation schedule.
Payment Options For Your Convenience
Please pay either in advance or on the day of service. I will send an invoice closer to your first rehearsal. If your invoice is for a series of rehearsals plus an exam/performance, you may pay for each session as you go or pay everything at once in advance.
